MOLD ABATEMENT
Based on a broad range of experience Eco Tech Environmental has developed containment, construction and remediation techniques that comply with EPA guidelines. The moisture source must be eliminated and isolating the area to prevent the mold spores from spreading beyond affected areas. Negative air pressure machines are generally used in conjunction with temporary plastic walls. Mold removal guidelines recommend physically removing finish materials affected with mold. If framing has visual mold growth and is still structurally strong, it can be HEPA vacuumed, sanded and cleaned. Because mold exposure is a chemical exposure there are no short cuts for the physical removal of mold colonies and mold spores. EPA approved moldicide is then applied to contaminated areas as part of the thorough cleaning. Depending on the situation, we may recommend the application of Anti-Microbial coating to prevent the recolonization of Mold on the remediated area.

LEAD-BASED PAINT ABATEMENT
Eco Tech Environmental is an RRP Lead-Safe certified firm. There are several ways to deal with lead containing products, complete removal and disposal (windows, doors, trim, etc.), encapsulation and the stripping of paint. Methods used to safely remove lead-based paint all depend on the size and location of the surface. For smaller areas wet scraping works best. The lead-based paint areas are misted with water while using hand scrapers to dislodge the paint. For larger projects wet sanding or power sanding with a HEPA filter vacuum are used to minimize dust or an electric sander is equipped with a HEPA filtered vacuum attachment. It is very important to do a proper cleaning of lead dust and debris to ensure that lead hazards are not left behind. All debris are then collected in 6-mil plastic bags followed by using wet cloths or wet mops on all surfaces.
